About - Beastmaker USA
Welcome to Beastmaker USA.
We are the USA distributor for Beastmaker climbing training products which are produced out of the United Kingdom.
Here at Beastmaker we are big into sustainability.
We only use FSC certified North American tulip wood (Liriodendron tulipifera) to make our fingerboards. This is a common tree of the eastern United States and not to be confused with Brazilian Tulipwood which isn't very sustainable! FSC stands for Forestry Stewardship Council - these guys will only certify wood if it has come from a responsibly managed forest, or in their own words, only if the forest is managed in an "environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable manner".
We also try to recycle as much as we possibly can in the workshop and we package our fingerboards in recyclable cardboard to help you guys to do the same at the other end (which we hope you do?)
Unfortunately, running our workshop and machinery 5 days a week takes a lot of energy. We get all our electricity from 100% renewable sources (mostly wind farms) which is pretty cool.
Without sounding too much like a bunch of hippies, the planet is looking pretty fragile these days and we are trying to do our bit (albeit a very, very small bit) to help slow it's demise.
After all there's no point having strong fingers if all the rocks are underwater...
We produce each and every Beastmaker from a block of wood to the finished fingerboard with the following steps.
- Each finger board starts from a single block of sustainably sourced tulipwood.
- The block is then roughed out on our custom built CNC machine.
- The outside of the fingerboard is then manually sanded smooth.
- Following this we hand sand each pocket.
- Screw holes are drilled and countersunk for mounting.
- Our logo is laser engraved.
- Finally they are boxed up and posted to you.
